Miracles Then Versus Now

by Terry W. Benton

When Jesus worked miracles, nobody could deny it. Unbelievers tried to explain them away, but they could not deny a miracle happened. Jesus raised the dead, healed the lame, opened blind eyes, turned water to wine, walked on water, healed the dying at great distances, and all of it instantaneously. There were no cases where someone showed up with an invisible malady, Jesus popped them on the head and they fell back and claimed that Jesus healed them. That is today's phony version of miraculous power from God.

Today, no one raises the dead, makes the lame instantly walk, makes the blind instantly see, and no one walks on water, or turns water to wine. Why? Has GOD changed? No! God had a purpose for distributing the gifts to men, and upon completion of that purpose, ceased to give those gifts. Paul spoke of those gifts in I Corinthian 13:8-13. He told that "when that which is complete is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." He spoke of miraculous tongues, prophecy, and miraculously given knowledge as things that would "cease" or "be done away." Yet, when those powers ceased there would still be faith, hope, and love. That which is perfect is the completed revelation of what was being measured out in parts, which is bits and pieces of revelation with other gifts confirming those revelations. We have the complete revelation (II Timothy 3:16,17) that "completely" (perfectly) furnishes the man of God. If this revelation is complete and there are no more revelations to add to the Bible, then "that which is perfect" came at the latter end of the first century when the apostles died.

If the Bible completely furnishes the man of God, and it does, then the miraculous gifts are no longer given to men. We are in the age when faith, hope, and love continue, and where the full and complete revelation takes the place of those miraculous gifts. So, if you are wondering why there is such a huge difference between the miracles described in the Bible, and the lame comparison to today's version of so-called miracles, it is because the modern versions are fake and deceptions. Do not be conned into fake claims of new revelations and new confirming miracles. If there were real miracle workers today it should be quite easy to demonstrate. Do not allow someone to deceive you.
