According to Numbers 33:38-39 Aaron died on Mount Hor while Deuteronomy 10:6 says that Aaron died at Mosera. It seems that according to Numbers 33:31-37 there is some distance between these two places. May I know your explanation about this?

Numbers 33 contains a journal of all the stopping points Israel made during their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. "Now Moses wrote down the starting points of their journeys at the command of the LORD. And these are their journeys according to their starting points" (Numbers 33:2). Numbers 33:31 mentions a stop at Moseroth and Numbers 33:37 mentions a stop at Mount Hor. A problem arises if you assume that the wanderings were a straight-line journey. But the reason we call it "wanderings" is because there were many meandering loops through the wilderness. Numbers 33 gives the order of the stops, but tells us nothing about the distance between the various places.

Unfortunately, we don't know where most of these places Moses named are located. It is because of Deuteronomy 10:6, "Now the children of Israel journeyed from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah, where Aaron died, and where he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered as priest in his stead," that people guess that Moserah was a town located at the base of Mount Hor.

Below is just one possible map of the wilderness journey.
