Question:Had God any intention of having children for Adam? Adam was cursed only after he was driven away from paradise. That too as a curse.
Before the fall of man, God told Adam and Eve, "Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."" (Genesis 1:28). Man cannot multiply without having children, so God did intend Adam and Eve to have children.
From this we also conclude that children are a blessing, not a curse. "Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward" (Psalm 127:3).
The curses pronounced on the serpent, the woman, and the man came as a consequence to their sins. They were given before Adam and Eve were sent from the Garden, not afterwards. The curse on Eve was that she would have pain in childbearing and in labor, but God did not say that the children themselves were a curse. "To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you."" (Genesis 3:16).
