Works

We are not saved by the things that we do.

  • Godís grace saves us and not works in which we could boast - Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Works of the Old Testament Law cannot save, by themselves, because the Law brings the knowledge of sin - Romans 3:20
  • We are justified by faith apart from works of the Old Law - Romans 3:27-28
  • To be justified solely by works would allow man to boast in his abilities - Romans 4:2
  • Being saved by grace means that salvation is unearned - Romans 11:5-6
  • We are not saved according to our works - II Timothy 1:9
  • We are not saved on the basis of our deeds - Titus 3:5

We cannot be saved without doing the things God requires of us.

  • We are created by God to do good works - Ephesians 2:10
  • We are commanded to do good works - I Timothy 6:18; Titus 3:1
  • Let men see your good works, so God will be glorified - Matthew 5:16; I Timothy 5:25; II Timothy 2:21; I Peter 2:12
  • God gives to us so that we may be able to perform good deeds - II Corinthians 9:8; II Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 13:21
  • We please God by doing good works - Colossians 1:10
  • Those who believe and love God will be careful to obey God - Titus 3:8; Romans 1:5; 16:26; John 14:15
  • We cannot be Godís children without obeying God - I John 2:3-7; 3:4-10; 5:2-3; II John 4, 6, 9; II John 3-4, 11
  • God judges us according to our works - I Peter 1:17
  • Only those who obey God will enter heaven - Matthew 7:21-23
  • Strengthen your heart in every good work - II Thessalonians 2:17; Titus 3:14; Hebrews 10:24
  • Godly women adorn themselves by means of good works - I Timothy 2:9-10; 5:10; Acts 9:36
